Construction development of this 21 storey, 74 unit building began in the Summer of 2011. The Merit condominium, located in Ottawa’s downtown core, is a building design of beauty and quality with dramatic detail. The exterior of the building is black granite cladding at the base of the building; sculpted precast concrete cladding; and architectural mirror stainless steel trim. The building envelope includes energy efficiencies such as air leakage control measures, cavity insulation to eliminate thermal bridging; low-E argon glazing and light reflective roofing ballast and pavers. Other Green Initiatives include: general reduction in energy consumption and water use; sustainable long-lasting building components; alternative refrigerants in the heat pump system to reduce ozone depletion; green roof concepts; and the use of recyclable materials. The overall fit-up of this condominium is contemporary in design and technology. Some details include quartz or granite countertops, custom kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and granite or ceramic bathroom tiles.
