In March 1997, RECL began this complex, multi-phased project. The initial challenge was to establish the appropriate location for the Phase I building, which would be connected by a common core, to a future mirror image building. Proceeding with a phased building permit process, the design and procurement processes ran concurrently for both the Base Building and Tenant Fit-up. Tenant Fit-up construction started in September 1997, while the installation of the precast and curtainwall fa§ade was still in progress. Substantial completion was achieved by December 1997.
In June 2000, RECL proceeded with the construction of the Phase II building, a 16,908m2, nine storey building, sharing a common expanded core with Phase I. The project included a major expansion to the existing surface parking lot. In 2003, demolition and an extensive fit-up of the building was completed for the City of Ottawa ($7 million).
